Therefore, we have assembled a board of esteemed individuals who have already left a positive impact on their community. They will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.

Dr. Fatoumata Ceesay

President Maram Bobb Children Foundation

A medical professional specializing in pediatrics and an educator for physicians in training, leverages her expertise in healthcare insurance, actively engages in community advocacy for women and children, and ardently aspires to be a healthcare ambassador, championing the well-being of underserved children.

Elizabeth Banya

Vice President

Accountant and philanthropist with over 25 years of experience who supports and champions positive progress of women and children in The Gambia.

Dr. Munirah Curtis

Secretary

Distinguished pediatric hospitalist in academic medicine who served as director of an inpatient pediatric unit, highly committed to the academic training of medical students and residents and has extensive expertise in the health insurance industry.

Treasurer

Versatile, collaborative, independent, results- oriented seasoned leader in the areas of Audit, Compliance, and Risk Managements with experience across some of the largest Global Banks and Financial Services Companies.She is passionate about wellness, helping, and uplifting people.

Dr. Fatou Bensouda

Founding Board Member

The first woman to serve as the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court - (The ICC, 2012-2021,). As a civil servant, she served successively as Counsel on many different levels and as Attorney General and Minister of Justice of The Republic of The Gambia. She served on the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda as Senior Legal Advisor and Head of the Legal Advisory Unit. She has received countless awards and accolades to include Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world (2012); by Jeune Afrique as one of 50 African women leaders. Dr. Bensouda was awarded l’ordre national du Lion du Sénégal by the President of Senegal for her dedicated service in the advancement of international criminal justice, and her native country, The Gambia, announced that she will be awarded the country’s highest civilian honour for her principled service as ICC Prosecutor. Dr. Bensouda (and the Office she led as ICC Prosecutor) have been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their accomplishments and work in advancing international criminal justice, without fear or favour. Dr. Bensouda currently serves as The Gambian High Commissioner to the Court of St James’s, UK and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Republics of Austria, Ireland, Finland and the Vatican City.

Atta Ceesay, PhD.

Founding Board Member

Associate Dean of Academic Standards and Student Success and Associate Professor of Public Administration at SUNY Buffalo State University. She has worked in the Banking and Manufacturing sectors for 10+ years holding various financial positions amassing large experience working and consulting with organizations on Capacity Building, Program Development, Strategic Planning, Human Resources management, and Performance Management and Evaluation.

Dr. Abdoulie Njie

Founding Board Member

Distinguished as the Director/Chairman of a Level One Trauma Center in the USA. Dr Njie is also an accomplished emergency medicine physician who brings a wealth of experience as a Clinical Assistant professor and information technology expert, playing a pivotal role in the education and training of the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Lisa Mulenga

A public health professional with more than 22 years of combined experience in clinical care, health services and systems strengthening, policy development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in the public & private sectors and international NGO settings and at community, sub-national, national, and international levels.

Steed Welch

Founding Board Member

Versatile professional, with extensive background in media with a keen eye for marketing and communication strategies, while also leveraging his expertise as a track coach to inspire and guide individuals towards athletic excellence.
